Following is a short synopsis of each scholarship available through the Foundation. Additional requirements are stipulated on the cover sheet for each scholarship. Scholarship applications and cover sheets will be available on our website and at the counselor's offices at Rushville Consolidated High School and Knightstown High School beginning on December 1st of each year. You must submit a copy of the application for each scholarship for which you apply along with the cover sheet for that scholarship. Scholarship deadline for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is the first Friday of February of each year (4:00 PM, February 5, 2010).Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships-2 available - These are full tuition, required fees, and special allocation of up to $800 per year for required books and equipment for four years of undergraduate study. Applicant must be a Rush County resident, and graduate by the end of June 2008. This student must be a freshman in the fall of 2009, and a fulltime student at any accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. Student must send a report to the Foundation for 10 years after college graduation including job title, firm/organization, employment location, and postgraduate work. It does not have to be a graduating senior. Scholarship deadlines for all other scholarships is March 12, 2010 at 4:00 PM.Hubert and Grace Alexander - applicants must be a permanent resident of Rush County and be returning to Purdue University as a sophomore, junior, senior or a graduate student. Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. John Sam Anderson - applicants must reside in Anderson, Noble or Richland Townships, be active in either band or choir while at RCHS. Preference will be given to student who plans to major in music. Lelande Anise Hunt Beher - applicant must have been born in Rush County , IN. and be a graduate of Rushville, or RCHS. Preference will be given to a graduate student in the field of elementary education. The applicant may be a traditional or non-traditional student. If there are no graduate students in the field of elementary education, the scholarship may be awarded to an undergraduate student in the field of elementary education who is above a sophomore level in college. Selection will be based largely on need, and extra-curricular involvement. Marcia and Les Blair Community Scholarship - applicant must be a current Rush County resident and must have resided in Rush County for at least the last three calendar years. Applicant must be currently employed in Rush County and striving to improve themselves by working toward a degree, an advanced degree or toward additional certification in those chosen occupation. Scholarship must be used for continuing or furthering their education in their chosen field and may not be a graduating high school senior. BPW Working Woman's Scholarship - Applicants for this scholarship must be a permanent resident of Rush County, female and at be least 25 years of age. The applicant must also be enrolled in an undergraduate degree or diploma program at an accredited college, university, technical or vocation school. She must have at least two years of fulltime employment and may or may not be currently employed. Richard and Loretta Busald Family Nursing - applicant must be a Rush County, Indiana resident or a direct descendent of a Rush County resident, and provide the name of their direct descendant. Student must be a full time college student in their second, third or fourth year in good standing in a program to become a Registered Nurse, and be in pursuit of an education which result in licensure as an R. N. Hubert E. and Anna Louise Chance applicant must be a Rush County resident and a graduating senior in good standing from RCHS who attended Rush County Schools at least four years. Student must show proof of acceptance at an Indiana university or college and be pursuing an undergraduate degree in education. Harold Clifton, Jr. - applicant must be a Rush County resident, and an RCHS graduate. Student must attend Purdue University pursuing a B.S. degree in an agricultural field or be enrolled in a Purdue Agricultural Short Course. Richard S. Earnest Diabetes Scholarship applicant must be a Rush County resident, and a graduating senior from RCHS with Type I insulin dependent diabetes. If none apply consideration will be given to an RCHS graduating senior entering pre-medical classes. Morris F. and Jane Marshall Fisher Fund - applicant must be a Rush County resident or a direct descendent of a Rush County resident. Preference will be given a student who is attending or planning to attend Miami of Ohio University in Oxford, Ohio. Recipient may apply and receive this scholarship more than one year. Danny E. and Barbara J. Gettinger and Family Scholarship- applicant must be a permanent resident of Rush County and a graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. Applicant must have maintained a GPA of 2.5 or higher and plan to study in the field of agriculture at a two or four year college or university or an accredited agricultural short course at a college, university or vocational school. David L. Green, MD Creativity Awards - two awards (one for vocational classes and one for academic classes) will be chosen by a committee of department heads/teachers from the curriculum categories. No applications are taken for this scholarship. Frank & Jean Green - awards will be given to students who submit essays for the Jean Green Writing Program and any remaining funds will be used for a scholarship for academic, needy students, determined by a committee of teachers and counselors. No applications are taken for this scholarship. Norma R. Harcourt School of Nursing Memorial Scholarship- To provide a scholarship to a Rush County resident for continuing education in the field of nursing. Not available in 2009. Carol Niehoff Hardwick - applicant must be a Rushville Consolidated High School graduate who is attending Ball State University. Student need not be in the top 10% of graduating class. Need shall be considered. Kyle Henderson Memorial Scholarship- To provide a scholarship to a Rush County resident and graduate of RCHS who will be attending a vocational or trade school. Preference will be given to students active in 4-H or FFA and studying agriculture, construction management, heating and cooling, electrical or plumbing. Frank L. & Frances L. Hilburt - applicant must be a permanent resident of Rush County, and have completed their freshman year of college and be classified as students with at least sophomore status. Student must be enrolled in a pre-professional or professional degree program such as medicine, law, accounting, pharmacy, nursing, or teaching, however, applicants may be considered in another field of study. A college transcript and 2 recommendations must be submitted with the application. Jeff Hufford Memorial Scholarship - applicant must be a graduating senior of Rushville Consolidated High School and planning to attend a two or four year college or university in the State of Indiana. Preference will be given to students studying broadcasting or communications. Courtney Anne Huskins - applicant must be an RCHS graduate who attended Rush County schools for at least 6 years, and intends to attend a 2- or 4-year vocational school or college. Student must have a "B" grade point average or better for 7 semesters of grades 9-12. Michael J. Keith Memorial male applicant must be a Rush County resident that attended Rush County Schools, and show proof of acceptance at an accredited trade school. First consideration will be given to a graduating senior at RCHS with at least a 3.0 GPA. If there is not a RCHS graduation senior, a student who has been out of high school for over a year could be considered. George E. King, D.V.M. Veterinary Scholarship - To provide a scholarship for a Rush County resident attending the Purdue University Veterinary School. If no applications then a Rush County resident attending Purdue University studying Pre-Veterinary Medicine may be considered. Kiwanis applicant must be a Rush County resident and show proof of acceptance at a university or college. They can be pursuing a undergraduate or graduate degree. Victor and Dorothy Koontz Memorial Scholarship- To provide a scholarship to a student planning to attend or attending Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Nominee recipient must show proof of acceptance at an Indiana university or college or an adjacent state school and pursuing an undergraduate degree. Recipient is chosen through the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship process. No applications are taken for this scholarship. Madeline Gullion Knight - applicant must be a Rush County resident pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Education. Grayson J. Mahin - applicant must be a Rushville Consolidated High School graduating senior who has attended Rush County Schools at least 6 years, show proof of acceptance to an Indiana university or college, plan to pursue a degree in education to become a teacher, be in the top 1/3 of their graduating class, be in good standing, and be a permanent resident of Rush County, Indiana. Laurie Saunders Marlatt Memorial Scholarship- To provide a scholarship to a current dental assistant or expanded dental assistant living or working in Rush County or a student enrolled in the Dental Assistant program through the New Castle Area Vocational School. Thomas F. Marshall applicant must be a Rush County, Indiana resident or a direct descendent of a Rush County resident, and provide the name of their direct descendant. Student must be a full time college student in their third year or above in good standing. Preference will be given to students studying in the fields of mental health, social work or law. Jessy L. McClure Memorial applicant must be a Rushville Consolidated High School graduating senior desiring to further their education either by attending an accredited college or university full time or part time. Student must be a permanent resident of Rush County, Indiana. It cannot be awarded to a brother, sister, or first cousin of Jessy L. McClure. Joan L. McLaughlin Memorial applicant must be a Rush County resident or a direct descendent of a Rush County resident and provide name of their direct descendant. It cannot be awarded to a relative or direct descendent of any Founding Contributor or Joan McLaughlin. One scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior of RCHS and one to a sophomore level or above in a college or university. Mental Health Association Bobby Dean Interest Free Student Loan applicant must be a Rush County resident pursuing a four year degree at an accredited university. They must be a junior or senior in a health care field. The interest free loan is to be repaid in equal monthly installments, beginning six months after graduation or termination of studies. Robert Meyer and Family 4-H Scholarship - applicant must be a Rush County resident or a direct descendent of a Rush County resident and provide name of their direct descendant. It cannot be awarded to a relative or direct descendent of Robert Meyer. Student must have participated in 4-H in Rush County for the last five years which they were eligible to participate, and be a full time college student in good standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Phillip E. Mitchell - applicant must be an RCHS graduate and must have completed at least their sophomore year in college, and intend to pursue a degree in teacher education. Preference will be given to a student who attended Milroy Elementary for two or more years. Dick Neeb Memorial - applicant must be a graduating senior, a graduate of RCHS or a Rush County resident who will pursue a vocational career in a 1 to 4 year program. Preference will be given to a student pursuing a building trade's career (carpenter, electrician, plumbing, heating, etc). Bob and Avie Pike Family Memorial R. N - applicant must be a Rush County resident or a direct descendant of former Rush County resident and must be pursuing a degree to become a Registered Nurse. Rex A. & Lucille G. Readle - applicant must reside in Posey Township. If there are no applicants from Posey Township, then any student may be considered. Duward G. Reddick Kiwanis male applicant must be an RCHS graduating senior and a resident of Rush County. Must be pursing a four year degree and show actual need. R. N. Club - applicant must reside in Rush County, and be in pursuit of an education that will result in licensure as a Registered Nurse. (Students in Licensed Practical Nursing education do not qualify.) Rush County Junior Leader 4-H - applicant must have been a Rush County 4-H Junior Leader, and plan to attend an accredited vocational/technical school, or 2-year/4 year college or university. Robert H. Schondelmayer applicant must be enrolled in a ministerial degree program with an accredited Bible college for the school year following receipt of this award. Charlotte Frame Sleeth - applicant must have a desire for higher learning, be willing to work to earn all or part of their expenses, and need not be among the best students in their classes. Mildreth I. & Byron P. Smith - applicant must be a graduating senior from RCHS, attend an accredited trade school or university in Indiana, have a C or better average and provide evidence of financial need. Holli Spaeth Memorial - applicant must be a graduating senior of RCHS and also a permanent resident of Rush County who has attended at least two years at RCHS, must be a graduate of RCHS in good standing with at least a C average, must show proof of acceptance at a university, college, or trade school, and cannot be awarded to a brother, sister, or first cousin of Holli Spaeth. Rush County Friends of Purdue University, Mary Katherine Waits, Principal Donor
applicant must be a permanent resident of Rush County and must be attending or planning to
attend Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or
above. Maurice W. Porky Wainwright - applicant must be a Rushville Consolidated High School graduate, who will pursue improving skills in the home building trades (carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc.) area. Applicant must attend a technical or professional school. Wilma B. Wainwright Memorial - applicant must have graduated from RCHS, be above a sophomore level in college, be a full-time student pursuing a degree in Business Accounting, and maintain a B or above average in college. Jean H. Walker & Ivan G. Alexander - this student is chosen by the Principal of RCHS and given to a deserving student in need of assistance. The students do not apply for this scholarship. Ward, Richardson and Corn Families Scholarship- To provide a scholarship to a Rush County resident who is a graduating high school senior with preference given to an average student. Not available in 2009. Marian G. White Purdue Opportunity Award - this student is chosen by a committee and given to a deserving student in need of assistance. The students do not apply for this scholarship. Alice R. Wiley Scholarship - applicant must be a graduating senior at RCHS who intends to pursue a degree in teaching education from an accredited college or university and academic achievement and financial need shall also be considered. Gordon D. & Mary S. Wilson - applicant must be a Rush County student. Preference will be given a student who is attending or planning to attend Miami of Ohio University in Oxford, Ohio. Recipient may apply and receive this scholarship more than one year. John and Susan Wilson Unsung Hero Award- To provide an award to a deserving senior at RCHS for their tireless dedication for the success and support of the team. No applications are taken for this scholarship. ACE/Rita Yager Memorial applicant must be a graduating senior and a Rush County resident seeking a career in agriculture or an agricultural-related field.
